The Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources was created in 2005 with the mandate to ensure a flood-free, hygienic and beautiful Lagos and a mission to foster a clean, healthy and sustainable environment that will be conducive for tourism, economic growth and wellbeing of its citizenry.
Presently, the Ministry comprises two distinct offices each headed by a Permanent Secretary, namely: Office of Environmental Services (OES) and Office of Drainage Service.
The statutory functions of the Ministry include:
- Formulation and evaluation of policies relating to all Environment matters in the State;
- Developing regulations and standards on all Environmental issues;
- Environmental service matters;
- Policy matters on air and other forms of pollution
- Formulation and evaluation of policies relating to drainage services;
- Monitoring of all drainage activities in Lagos state;
